Microstructure and microtexture are two fundamental aspects of materials that determine the service performance of any engineering component. A thorough understanding of the interrelationship between these structural characteristics and the physical and mechanical properties of materials is of immense importance for the process design and optimization. Microstructural and textural characterization is essential for tailoring the microstructure in developing newer alloys and materials, improving properties of a given material and optimizing processing parameters.
Recent years have witnessed tremendous developments in the field of microstructural and textural characterization. The advent of aberration corrected TEMs, 3-D Orientation Imaging Microscopy and Synchrotron radiation for the diffraction experiments are opening up new avenues for scientific exploration. Complimentary analytical techniques are also catching up with the developments in the microscopes and are offering compositional quantification at sub nano scale.
This seminar will act as a forum for engineers working in industry, researchers, materials scientists and academicians working in the scientific laboratories and academic institutions and who are interested in the area of microstructural characterization to introduce them to the recent developments in the field of microstructural and textural characterization. Experts from different fields covered in this seminar will deliver invited talks. It will be an excellent opportunity for the researchers, academicians and students to present and observe the latest research, results, and ideas in these areas. This seminar will aim to strengthen relations between industry, research laboratories, and universities.
